Reports: Rice to hire Stanford OC Mike Bloomgren as coach

Rice is finalizing a deal to hire Stanford offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren as its next head coach, multiple outlets reported.
Bloomgren has coached the offensive line for the Cardinal since 2011 and been the team's offensive coordinator since 2013. Before coming to Stanford, Bloomgren spent four seasons coaching with the New York Jets.
The 40-year-old will replace David Bailiff, who was fired Nov. 27 after 11 seasons at the school. He posted a 57-80 mark overall, but his best seasons were 10-3 in 2008 and 10-4 in 2013.
Rice finished 1-11 overall and 1-7 in Conference USA this season, only winning the second game against winless UTEP.
